WinX DVD Author is a very complete DVD authoring tool. It allows you to create a DVD movie from a video file or a previously ripped DVD disc. It has a built-in burning engine that allows you to burn the discs after conversion is complete. You can create menus and add different audio and subtitle tracks.

WinX DVD Author has a set of features (burner and converter), and they can be accessed individually or you can use the step-by-step wizard to create your DVD movie. The wizard is by far the easiest and less time-consuming approach. You simply add the video file that you want to put on your DVD and click on "next". The next step is to design the menus that the DVD movie will use. There are quite a few templates, so you can just skip this step if you want and use any of the backgrounds available. Or you can use your own images as backgrounds and add your own music to the menu as well. You can change the fonts and the placement of items on the screen. Then you can start the process and burn the DVD.

I like the fact that you can create several subtitle tracks from .SRT files and you can change the text properties as well. The custom menus are also a nice feature.

Tpmmt The DVD I made with the Winx Author showed only 11 menu icons. The rest of 21 video clips I had loaded did not show menu icons. Can anyone show me how to create all 21 menu icons?

Also I have noticed that those video clips with menu icons showed up with black bands on all 4 sides, while those video clips that did not have menu icons showed no black bands at top and bottom. Will someone show me how to get rid of those black bands. I had the "Auto Letter Box" unchecked.

Hans I´ve used it now and then up until it was unintentionally deleted from my hard drive when upgrading to Win 10 (be careful with that...) and found it to be a good enough burner tool (competitive to brand names if you shake out the bugs) even if I think the interface was kinda tricky - simple but awkward to be short about it. And sometimes it shut down for me too. Otherwise, I have no real complaints about it, and I'm about to re-install it. The old version I used was fast, light on the processor and created high-quality discs that plays on all equipment I've tried to run them on so far. Okay, one small thing... I remember there was a menu added automatically that I really don´t want on single feature discs. Then again there was a trademark logo on that, I guess, you need to at least get some advertising when you give it away as a freebie.
