Comprehensive free utility to create full-featured DVD discs from video files

WinX DVD Author offers you all the tools you need to create pro-looking DVDs out of your favorite video files for free. It gives you full SRT subtitle support, the possibility of selecting the languages of your DVDs, templates of nice-looking menus, and various conversion and burning utilities for you to create your own DVD discs in just a few simple steps.

Designed for all types of users, its attractive and updated interface guides you intuitively through the entire DVD creation process. You can load any number of MKV, M2TS, MP4, FLV, MPEG, MOV, or AVI files (among others) up to the capacity of the blank DVD selected, sort them, and add an attractive menu to provide the viewer with direct access to the various clips. You can make your discs look more professional by adding a soundtrack – when needed – and SRT subtitle files to them (when available). The DVD menu editor offers you an interesting list of ready-to-use templates while giving you the freedom to add your own images and sounds to it.

Some of the functions offered by WinX DVD Author are also available separately. This means that you can use the program’s VOB converter, VOB to DVD compiler, and DVD disc burning utility to perform these specific tasks independently, without going through the entire DVD creation process.

This is a free tool, and though it has its limitations (one would love to have some of basic video editing tools at hand to crop, clip, split, and join some of my source videos without opening a third-party editor), it gives you an end-to-end solution to create full-featured DVDs out of a bunch of loose video files. Some similar tools will ask you to part with some of your precious dollars for just half the functionality. A DVD authoring tool worth trying.

Tpmmt The DVD I made with the Winx Author showed only 11 menu icons. The rest of 21 video clips I had loaded did not show menu icons. Can anyone show me how to create all 21 menu icons?

Also I have noticed that those video clips with menu icons showed up with black bands on all 4 sides, while those video clips that did not have menu icons showed no black bands at top and bottom. Will someone show me how to get rid of those black bands. I had the "Auto Letter Box" unchecked.

Hans I´ve used it now and then up until it was unintentionally deleted from my hard drive when upgrading to Win 10 (be careful with that...) and found it to be a good enough burner tool (competitive to brand names if you shake out the bugs) even if I think the interface was kinda tricky - simple but awkward to be short about it. And sometimes it shut down for me too. Otherwise, I have no real complaints about it, and I'm about to re-install it. The old version I used was fast, light on the processor and created high-quality discs that plays on all equipment I've tried to run them on so far. Okay, one small thing... I remember there was a menu added automatically that I really don´t want on single feature discs. Then again there was a trademark logo on that, I guess, you need to at least get some advertising when you give it away as a freebie.
